General Household Clutter Removal

Home Decluttering Services On Long Island And In Nyc

Clutter builds slowly. A drawer that won't shut, a guest room that turned into storage, a basement nobody wants to go down to. Then one day you need the space, and there's too much to face alone.

Yes, you can hire someone to declutter

EEB works through it with you one room at a time. We sort everything into keep, donate, recycle and discard, and you make every call about your belongings. What you're letting go of leaves with us, and the room is left clear.

Rooms We Declutter

  • Kitchens. Counters, cabinets and drawers cleared of what you no longer use
  • Bedrooms. Dressers, nightstands, under-bed storage and the corners where things pile up
  • Living rooms. Shelves, media areas and surfaces, so the room works for daily life again
  • Bathrooms. Expired products and duplicates cleared from cabinets and counters
  • Basements and attics. Boxes, old furniture and long-stored items sorted and cleared
  • Whole home or downsizing. Several rooms, or the whole house, before a move or a sale. Quoted for the rooms, the volume and what's leaving.
  • Digital clutter. Help organizing your own files, folders and photos and tidying a device you control. You stay in control of the device and decide what gets deleted. We don't ask for or keep passwords, open financial, medical or other private accounts, or provide data recovery or security services.

Closets, garages, paperwork and pantries have their own services: closet organization, garage cleanout and all organizing services.

Pick the rooms you want cleared.

You Make The Decisions, We Do The Heavy Lifting

We set up four groups as we go: keep, donate, recycle and discard. You make the decisions; we handle the lifting, bagging and carrying. Papers, photos, keepsakes and anything that looks important are set aside for you to look at rather than thrown out.

Not sure where to start?

Some people use simple rules:

  • The 12-12-12 method: find finding 12 things to throw out, 12 to donate and 12 to put back where they belong.
  • The 90/90 rule: ask whether you've used something in the last 90 days and expect to use it in the next 90.

They're only starting points; what stays is up to you.

What To Expect, Step By Step

  1. Booking. Choose the rooms in the services directory and tell us how full they are. Sign in to see your price.
  2. On the day. We start in the room you choose and work through it with you, sorting as we go.
  3. Leaving the house. Donation drop-off and hauling can happen on the same visit when the volume, drop-off hours and vehicle space allow; otherwise they may need a separate visit and charge. Usable items go to donation where they're accepted, and recyclables to suitable facilities where available.
  4. After. You're left with a clear room and only the things you chose to keep. Want the room cleaned once it's clear? Add cleaning when you book; it's only included if your booking or quote says so.

What Decluttering Costs

Decluttering is priced by the work involved, so your price reflects:

  • Which rooms, and how full they are
  • How many hours and how many people the job needs
  • Whether you add donation drop-off, recycling, hauling or a clean of the cleared space
  • Organizing products: usually you buy them after we recommend what's needed. If you'd like us to buy them, we'll get your approval first and show the product cost and any handling charge on your quote or invoice

Choose your rooms in the directory and you'll see your price after you sign in.

Will you throw anything away without asking? −
No. You decide what stays and what goes. Anything we're unsure about is set aside for you.
Do I have to be home? +
For the sorting, yes, at least for the first part of the visit. Once you've made the decisions, we can carry on with bagging, hauling and drop-offs.
What happens to the things I donate? +
Usable items may go to donation where they're accepted, and recyclables to suitable facilities where available. If something isn't accepted, we'll tell you and dispose of it appropriately. Drop-off can often happen the same visit, depending on volume and drop-off hours.
How long does it take to declutter a room? +
A lightly cluttered room may take a couple of hours; a packed basement can take a full day. Your booking estimates the time from the details you enter.
Can you help a parent downsize? +
Yes. Book downsizing or whole-home decluttering and we'll quote it by rooms and volume. The person whose belongings they are, or someone they've authorized, makes the decisions.
