What Our Lawn Care Covers

  • ✓Lawn mowing. Mowing, edging along accessible walks and driveways, light trimming around borders and obstacles, and loose clippings blown off the paths and driveway we've serviced.
  • ✓Lawn care maintenance. Visits weekly, every two weeks, every four weeks, one-time or seasonally as needed. We'll recommend a frequency based on the lawn, the weather and the time of year.
  • ✓Lawn aeration and overseeding. Available on request and quoted for your property, depending on the lawn's condition and the time of year.
  • ✓Sod and lawn installation. Laying sod, or establishing a new lawn, where the grass is bare or worn out. Soil preparation and grading are quoted separately unless your quote includes them.
  • ✓Fertilization. Fertilization is quoted for the property and performed or arranged in accordance with applicable New York requirements and product-label directions.
  • ✓Lawn and outdoor pest control. Pest-control service may be coordinated through appropriately licensed providers where required.

Quoted separately

Heavy brush, major overgrowth, debris removal, specialty trimming and areas that aren't safe to reach aren't part of a standard visit. We quote those separately.

How Often Should The Grass Be Cut?

While grass is actively growing, many lawns need cutting every week or every two weeks. Rain, heat, shade and the type of grass all change how fast it grows, so the right schedule varies from yard to yard.

The one-third rule

A common lawn guideline is the one-third rule: avoid taking off more than about a third of the blade's height in a single mow.

Cutting a little at a time is easier on the grass than an occasional heavy cut, which is one reason people choose a regular schedule over calling someone when the lawn gets out of hand.

Who Our Lawn Care Is For

  1. Homeowners who want the lawn handled without giving up their weekends
  2. Landlords and property managers looking after rental homes
  3. Sellers getting a house ready to list, who want the outside to match the inside (see home staging)
  4. Owners of vacant or bank-owned homes that need the yard kept presentable (see foreclosure cleaning)

Commercial properties

How Lawn Care Works

  1. Before. Open Lawn Care in our services directory and tell us the address, roughly how big the lawn is, what you'd like done and how often. Photos of the front and back yard help, along with gates, pets, slopes or anything else we should know about.
  2. Quote. We review the details and send a quote to your EEB account. If the photos don't tell us enough, we may ask a few questions or arrange a quick look at the property first.
  3. On the day. The crew arrives within the agreed window and works around beds, trees and anything in the yard. You don't usually need to be home, as long as the gate and any pets are sorted out ahead of time.
  4. After. Clippings are handled the way you chose: left on the lawn as mulch where suitable, bagged for pickup where permitted, or hauled away for an additional charge.

Licensed work

Some lawn work, such as fertilizing and pest treatments, has legal and product-label requirements. Where a license or registration is required, that work is performed or arranged through appropriately licensed providers.

Services may be performed or coordinated through qualified service professionals or providers, as appropriate for the particular service and project requirements. Either way, you deal with EEB.

What Goes Into Your Lawn Care Quote

There isn't one price for "lawn care", because no two yards take the same time. Your quote is based on:

  1. The size of the lawn and how many separate areas there are
  2. How often you want visits
  3. The lawn's condition: a badly overgrown or neglected lawn may need a separate first-visit price, and regular pricing starts once the lawn is in maintainable shape
  4. Slopes, tight gates, fences and obstacles that slow the work
  5. Anything added, such as aeration, overseeding, sod, fertilizing, or hauling away clippings

You see the quote in your EEB account before you book, and nothing changes without your approval.

How much does lawn care cost on Long Island? −
It depends on the size of the lawn, how often you want it cut, its condition and how easy it is to get around. Send us the details and a few photos, and we'll quote your lawn specifically. You see the price before you book.
How often should my lawn be mowed? +
During the growing season, many lawns need cutting weekly or every two weeks. You can also choose every four weeks, a one-time cut, or seasonal visits as needed. If your grass grows faster than the schedule you picked, we'll let you know. Visits may be moved when weather makes mowing impractical or unsafe.
What is the one-third rule for mowing? +
It's a common guideline that says not to remove more than about a third of the grass blade's height in one cut. Taking less at a time puts less stress on the lawn.
Can you take on a lawn that's badly overgrown? +
Yes. A badly overgrown or neglected lawn may need a separate first-visit price after we've seen it. Regular pricing starts once the lawn is back in maintainable shape. If the yard also has branches, leaves or debris to clear, a yard cleanup may be the better place to start.
Do you offer lawn aeration and overseeding? +
Yes, on request. Both are quoted for your property and depend on the lawn's condition, the time of year and equipment availability.
Do you offer organic lawn care? +
If there are products you'd rather we didn't use, tell us when you request your quote. We'll explain which options are available for your lawn before anything is applied.
Do I need to be home for lawn visits? +
Usually not. We just need access to the yard and to know about any pets, gates or alarm-protected areas before the first visit.
